Extrusion Molding

Shaped with Pressure

More Information on the Extrusion Process

Our regranulates are ideal for applications that are produced using the extrusion process.

Extrusion is a continuous shaping process that is mainly used for thermoplastics. Extrusion is one of the most widely used processes in the plastics processing industry and, thanks to its far-reaching advantages in terms of efficiency, has become very important, particularly in the series production of continuously manufactured plastic parts.

In the first step, the plastic to be processed is fed into the cylinder in the form of pellets via a hopper. The plastic is continuously melted with the help of heating bands and the resulting frictional energy. A screw conveys and compresses the melting pellets, putting them under constant pressure.

Following the actual extrusion, there is often a water-cooled calibration that completes the shaping process by pressing against the calibration wall. Calibration is usually followed by a water bath to cool the product.

Some of the most common plastic extrusion products include

  • Pipes
  • films
  • profiles
  • sheathing

Our Products for Your Application

The following three products from InnoPlastics AG are suitable as base materials for the extrusion process:

High Density Polyethylene HDPE

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is a thermoplastic material. It is characterized by its high density, strength and rigidity. HDPE is often used for packaging, pipes, hollow bodies and containers as it is resistant to chemicals and UV radiation.

High Density Elastic Polyethylene HDePE

High density elastic polyethylene (HDePE) is a thermoplastic material. In addition to its HDPE properties, it is characterized by increased elasticity. HDePE provides more elasticity and flexibility for applications in the pipe industry.

Low Density Polyethylene LDPE

Low density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic material. It is characterized by its low density, flexibility and high impact strength. LDPE is often used for films, bags and packaging.

Medium Density Polyethylene MDPE

Medium density polyethylene is a thermoplastic material. It is characterized by medium density, good strength and flexibility. MDPE is often used for pipes and cable insulation.
