Plastic consumption is increasing. This also generates growing quantities of waste plastic. The authorities are working with plastics manufacturers and recyclers as well as retailers to consider which other disposal options are ecological and cost-effective. Not all waste plastic is viable recycling material.

As far as the recycling of aluminum, PET, and cardboard is concerned, the Swiss have always been model pupils. But a glance at our neighbor shows we could do even better. The Austrians use a special sorting plant to recycle all types of plastic waste. “Einstein” shows how the system works and considers the question of when Switzerland will also be able to collect and recycle more plastic.
